Kotori Ichigotani & Yu Muroi — The Unmasked Chevron An archival piece from the primordial era of tracktop girl. Long before mastering the high-resolution world of the D800, these shots were captured with a Micro Four Thirds sensor, fueled by a raw, uninformed obsession. I didn’t understand the flash or the settings; I only knew that I had to be the one to record this texture. Rarely for this project, both models are encased in full hummel setups—top and bottom. Amidst the height of the pandemic, where masks were the mandatory social armor, I asked them to strip away that layer. To show their raw expressions against the rigid, chevron-patterned nylon. This is the Alchemy of Spirit and Matter in its most innocent form: a clash between a creator’s nascent curiosity and the totalizing presence of the hummel brand.
